Kurtz Family Update

Ok, I thought I might just give this blogging a try.  I figure maybe it will be an easier way of keeping track of what my kids are doing because you know I don't have time for scrapbooking or even journaling like I'd like to!

I guess we'll start with Mia since she's the oldest at a whopping 18 months! She has definitely been keeping us on our toes to say the least.  I like to call her my little monkey because she likes to climb on everything!! For example, tonight I changed Hunter into his pjs on the changing table and then went to lay him down in Mia's room so I could get her ready for bed and when I went back into Hunter's room she had climbed up onto the changing table and was patiently waiting her turn. AGGH! I can't turn my head for a second!!

Mia definitely loves being a big sister.  She constantly wants to help Mommy feed Hunter both his baby food and bottles.  I don't know how many of you deal with babies but in case you're wondering they usually prefer keeping the bottle in their mouth while eating...Mia has a tendency to move it all around making for a very impatient and loud Hunter! When Mia isn't helping me with Hunter she is playing Mommy to one of her many babies, such a lover!!  It has been so fun to watch her grow these last few months.  It is so amazing to see what they know and she surprises us with new things on a daily basis.  She loves to dance and read books.  And she gives the most amazing hugs and kisses! The best is when she tells Mommy and Daddy "I love you!"

Hunter has also been a joy these 5 wonderful months! Even though he wasn't as easy as Mia, he sleeps better now, which Mommy is very thankful for! He loves to giggle and smile and you can't help but laugh right back at him.  He is definitely a cuddler, wanting to be held all the time! Hunter is currently learning to sit up by himself and Mia tries to help when she isn't pushing him over!!  He has also started eating baby food.  So far we've tried our green veggies and he seems to like them ok.

We're hoping to get some family pictures taken in the next few months. When people say you don't take as many pictures of your younger children they are right.  For me, it seems like such a daunting task to keep everyone happy for a photo shoot.  Plus it's hard to take multiple pictures of a baby laying there when you have a toddler demanding your attention making you laugh!!  Furthermore getting a GOOD picture of my children together is about impossible.  If Hunter's looking at the camera, Mia is undoubtedly poking and prodding him so he'll look at her.  When Mia's looking at the camera, Hunter is usually screaming because Mia has just poked or prodded him!! Oh well, the joys of having small children :)

Personally, I'm not sure God created days with quite enough hours in them! I am of course tired most of the time but I feel so satisfied with where my life is right now so I can't complain too much.  I am currently training for the Fort-4-Fitness half marathon which has helped me lose all my baby weight and then some plus keep my sanity!!  I usually run on my lunch break (as long as I don't have to make a quick trip to Target for diapers!) and once on the weekends while Daddy watches the kids.  I haven't set any lofty goals but it's been wonderful to get back into running!

Jared is finally starting to slow down after another summer of softball and hockey.  He has had a fun summer playing ball and is a wonderful Daddy to Mia and Hunter.  The first thing Mia looks for when we get home is Daddy and she always lights up when she sees him.  Jared is starting to understand Hunter a little better now.  He was definitely more frustrated in the beginning since he was so much more fussy than Mia was at that age.

Overall, it has definitely been a fun and rewarding summer for our family. I look forward to what the next few months will bring us.  Hopefully, I will be able to remember to put updates on here regularly to share what we are doing! Thanks for reading :)
