Healthy again!
Finally! I think we are all on the mend!! The last week & a half has not been pretty in our house!!! We have had puking and pooping galore going on around here. Jared was the only one who escaped without much damage! It was really quite pathetic. I think I was about the worst patient as I'm an adult and like to think poor me!!!

Dedication Day
This past Sunday Jared and I had Mia and Hunter dedicated at church. It was a big group dedication so they were dedicated alongside the Costellos and Dafforns. It is something that we have wanted to do since we've found a church that we enjoy and it was a very nice service. We were lucky enough to have some of our family there to witness this event and we feel blessed to have people that support our decision.
Here is some of the scripture that Pastor Dan referenced during the service:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
“Little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” Matthew 19:13, 14 (NIV)
After the service we had a nice lunch and got some pictures taken on the playground. It will be fun to see how the kids grow with the church!

Bluffton Street Fair
Even though Jared was out of town and I was sick with strep throat the kids and I were able to make it to Bluffton Street Fair on Saturday night! I wasn't sure if it was going to happen, but when I bailed on the zoo I just had to make it up to them! LOL!
Anyway, we set out on our chilly adventure Saturday evening and met up with Zach & Erin and the kids and Bruce & Jaimi and their kids. We had a lot of fun. While we were waiting on the others to arrive we played the "mouse game". Mia was adamant that she would win a puppy. As the game progressed and we continued to hand over our money Mia started to get a little testy. She told me to just tell the lady that she wanted a puppy. SHE WANTED A PUPPY! No matter how many times I told her that it didn't work that way she actually had to win she was sure if I just told the lady , she could have one. She even told me to get the lady so she could tell her what she wanted!! We were down to one more quarter before we were going to move on for a while and lo and behold she was a winner!!!! She finally got her puppy!!!
Next we moved on to the goldfish game. So we got our first bucket of balls and we got nothing. Of course we had to try again it can't be that hard, right?! Maybe I should do it...never a good idea! Well, just as we were about to leave and we had thrown our last ball the game master told me we were a winner! (Personally, I think he was trying to unload some goldfish since it was the last night.) So, I guess Hunter was a winner too! And lucky us, we get to carry around a goldfish for the rest of our visit!
After we had our prizes we went on to try out some of the fair rides. We had a blast! The kids LOVED the rides! Hunter did his fake laugh and Mia was always plotting what she could do next! The three of us even rode a roller coaster together!! (It was fun for me so I have to think it was amazing for them!) I couldn't see their faces but they were laughing and screaming so I think it was a success!!! Mia was pretty upset when it was time to head home she was certain that we could go on ONE MORE ride, but I told her we just didn't have any more tickets. So we had a little crying but that's ok it was late and time for bed anyway!!!

Labor Day Weekend
So, even though I have a lot of stuff that I have skipped over this summer that I should have written about I'm going to try to get the current stuff in there and then maybe go back some other day when I have more time in my life! (Not sure that's ever going to happen!)
Last weekend we had a 3-day weekend and it really felt like we were on vacation! We weren't home a lot but we spent a lot of time with family and friends. On Friday night we made an impromptu visit and Aunt Erin's house and just hung out for the evening. Then Saturday morning all the men in our life decided to play golf so the ladies and kids got together in the morning to watch the Zanesville Homespun Days Parade!!! Mia was scared of Icy the Eagle but overall the kids definitely enjoyed it. After the parade we played at the park and then spent the afternoon at the Saalfranks in the rain!!!
Sunday we went to Eagle Lake to visit the Ohlson's! It was a little overcast on Sunday but still a lot of fun. We didn't spend a lot of time swimming but we did enjoy some fun boat rides!!! Mia loved every minute of it! Hunter, however, didn't really like to go fast! A bunch of the Kurtz clan spent the night and hung out for most of the day Sunday! I even went on a run around the lake...not as bad as I thought it would be :) Mia and Hunter even tried tubing with me. Hunter did not like the water splashing in his face so he didn't last long but Mia LOVED it!! She laughed almost the entire time and it was only a little scary when Uncle Russ accidentally took us over some bigger waves and Mia started bouncing off the tube!!!!
Overall it was a fabulous weekend with family and friends and a great way to finish the summer season!

MEOW!!
So, last night we were all winding down after a normal Monday watching a little Land Before Time before bed when we hear a noise and Jared asks "What was that?" It sounded like a cry but I figured if anything it came from outside since the windows were open and everyone was accounted for. Jared heads down to the basement to reassure himself, and I, of course, think nothing of it. However, a few minutes later Jared returns with 2 kittens!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one, am not real comfortable with my husband coming up from the basement with kittens when we DO NOT have a cat! (Even if we did it would not be inside!) So I ask him how in the world do we have kittens in the basement?!?!
Apparently, the people that owned the house before us felt the need to cut a hole in the basement for easy access for firewood since they kept a wood burner in the basement. Now, I have seen the door on the wall in the basement, but, quite frankly, it freaks me out so I NEVER open it because I'm afraid something will fall out. There is a covered hole out behind the house that leads down to this hole (I don't look in there either) and this is where Mother Cat decided to have/keep her babies! The 2 kittens that Jared brought upstairs must have been playing around and pushed the door open. Jared went outside to check the space and Mother Cat sprinted out toward the corn field! Jared brings in kitten #3! Now he is in search of hornet spray since he also found a hornet's nest in the outdoor space. When he's finished warding off the hornets I inform him that I believe there is at least 1 more kitty...sure enough when he returns from the basement he has kitty #4!!
The kids are obviously in absolute heaven and are loving their new little friends. Hunter is holding "his" kitty around the neck and keeps pulling it back with whatever he can grab if it tries to get away. He also likes to carry it with its head hanging down. I think I must have said "you have to be nice to the kitty" 500 times in the hour we had them in the house! Mia is also loving her 3 kittens. She named all the kittys: Adelaide is the yellow one (Leah, I think it's safe to say she likes your baby's name!), we also have Sanko, Penelope (I named this one since Mia kept saying different variations of the first two names) and last but not least, Hunter's kitty's name ended up as Keekoo.
So the kids and I played with the kittens while Jared ran to the store for some cat food. We figured we've been talking about getting some outdoor cats and if these little guys will stick around why not?! So when Jared got home we made up a box for the kittens with some food. We put it out back in hopes that Mother Cat will return (she's been stalking from the corn field most of the evening) and take care of her kittens. We explained to the kids that we have to leave them outside and they might not be there in the morning. They weren't too thrilled with this notion but acted like they understood. So we all went to bed a little later than normal, and prayed that the kittens would be safe through the night.
It didn't take Mia long this morning to remember her new little friends so we went out to check on them first thing. Adelaide was the only kitty still in the box this morning! Mia wanted to hold her but she was a little hissy so we decided we will wait and see if she is still there tonight. The cat food was gone and we have no idea where the rest of the family is so we'll see what happens. We will put some more food out and see if they come around again. We'll keep you posted!!!!
