Trick or Treat!

Halloween has come and gone so I figured I'd post some of the pictures to remember it by.

After we got dressed up in our costumes we stopped at Nana's and Pop's for our first trick or treat stop.  Mia got a bunch of fruit snacks and M & M's (her favorite!) and Hunter got a Nutrigrain bar that I'm sure Mia will still eat! We then drove to Grandma and Grandpa's.  Mia was a little scared of the other trick or treaters but she learned to say trick or treat and remembered to say thank you to everyone who gave her candy! :)

Uh-Oh!!

Poor Miss Mia had her first taste of "Time-Out" at daycare this week! From what I hear "Nenna" aka McKenna must have had a toy Mia wanted because she ended up pulling out some of McKenna's hair when she wouldn't give it to her! Then when we were at home and I wouldn't give her what she wanted (I believe it was play dough) she just sat there and hollered...my answer...bed time!!! (Of course I had to get a picture first because it shouldn't be funny to watch her throw a fit but it really is!!) Oh, I can see those terrible twos coming right around the corner and I'm not so sure how I feel about it.

On a positive note, she is sitting on the potty a little more often (as long as she gets her M & M's) and last night she went peepy and poopy in the potty! Of course when she started peeing she said "Uh Oh" and I had to make sure she understood it was a good thing! :)

Hunter still wants to be held constantly and wanted to play at 4:00 am yesterday but we still love him! He has finally cut through that second bottom tooth so hopefully we can get a little break from the frequency of "BMs" before those top teeth start working their way down!! We have also come to the conclusion that it is necessary to keep a bottle and formula in each and every vehicle since Jared seems to have a tendency to drop the kids off places without planning ahead of time and forgetting to bring anything he may need even if it's just for an hour!! That boy will let you know when he is hungry and you better have what he needs! I guess emergency diaper bags are a must for us right now!!

HOW BIG??? SO BIG!!!

Today was the day that both of my kids got to go in for their check-ups! Hunter for his 6 month (I can't believe he's that old already!) and Mia for her 18 month (or 19.5 month because I am not going to the doctor 2 seperate times and that's how the schedule worked out!) So here are their new set of stats:

HUNTER:  18 pounds, 10 ounces (75th percentile)
                  27.5 inches long (80 something percentile)
                  Doctor Kline's comments..."We're working on growing tall right
                  now" and "Definitely above average on both measurements!"

MIA:  29 pounds! (95th percentile)
          34 inches tall (95th percentile)
          Dr. Kline's comments..."I'm not surprised by her measurements, she
          looks like she could be a 2 and a half year old!"

All in all, a very good check up for my babes.  They both had to get shots and I was exhausted when we left (they both fell asleep in the car on the way to daycare!) I think it's about time to move Hunter to a bigger car seat because I'm getting tired of lugging that seat around!

After hearing their stats I also realized why running 3 miles with them in the jogging stroller into the wind and uphill was so much harder...they weigh almost 50 pounds together! No wonder my back hurts all the time!!!

YUCK!!

So, I get home last night and I know that Jared is out in the woods stalking deer with his friends and what do I find...oh Brady must not have felt well because there are massive amounts of diarrhea everywhere and the smell is horrible!!!  Not to mention the fact that as I look on in astonishment Mia has ran out and is practically in the road and Hunter is screaming because he's hungry and wants out of his carseat. This is where I scream and pull my hair out!!!  So, first I corral Mia so she doesn't get hit by any cars (I don't know when she got so fast!) and then I clean up the biggest piles of poop from the kitchen floor so Mia doesn't trek through them spreading it all over the house.  Then I have to take care of the screaming baby because I feel sorry for him and I can't take it any longer. Then I explore the rest of the house and attempt to get the poop out of the carpet while Hunter is content in his jumperoo.  Then I say forget it, pack the kids in the car and head over to Jaimi's for a drink and some company!!! Let's hope the rest of the weekend goes better than that!!

Mia Speak

I thought it'd be a good idea to document some of the wonderful words in Mia world so I can tell her how silly she was in years to come!

"Nack" = Fruit Snacks (Mia's favorite treat!)
"Ah Ah" = Monkey (Since that is how a monkey goes)
"Beep" = Grapes
"Bee" = Everything small that flies around
"Meow" = Kitty Cat
"Be Beans" = Green Beans
"Nana or Nena" = Banana (Mia likes to eat it out of the peel like Mommy)
"Muckin" = Muffin
"Dunter" = Hunter (one of my personal faves!)
"Bip" = Chip
"Pretty" = Anything that goes in her hair

I'm sure there are many more that I'm forgetting, but this is definitely a good working list!! :)

Bye Bye Zoo...

It was a pretty relaxing weekend for the Kurtz family last weekend.  We got to go to the zoo for the last time of the season. It was hot and crowded but we had a great time with Zach, Erin, & Kylee!!  I think Mia's favorite exhibit is definitely the goats since she gets to chase them with a brush :) Poor goats...especially the one that Kylee was pulling on as he was trying to get away!

Mia has definitely mastered her animal puzzle! She puts the puzzle piece on the wrong animals until you say "no" and laughs as she puts it where it belongs...the little stinker! She also knows to say "Go Pack!" when football is on TV even if the Packers aren't playing. When watching baseball it's "Yay Giants!"...thanks Daddy!!

Mia looking at her "pretties" in the mirror!

Hunter can finally sit up for extended periods, however he leans forward on his hands and looks a little like a monkey but that's ok, he'll straighten out eventually!! I think he's going to have a new tooth appearance soon since I had to change about 10 poopy diapers yesterday...hurry up tooth! :)

Hunter nice and clean after his bath

Looking good in camo!

Craziness!!

Well, the weekend is just about over and I thought I'd share some of the craziness of these past two weeks!

Last weekend was a beautiful weekend.  Jared brought the kids out to watch me run the Fort-4-Fitness half marathon, which I must say I ran much better than I expected thanks to my fabulous running partner, Meganmarie!! We ran the first 8 miles together and I finished the 13.1 miles in 1:46 and some seconds.  About 15 minutes faster than planned! That evening we got to hang out with the Ohlson's, Nonny, and Brian with the pretense of watching the Notre Dame game.  It was wonderful to get to spend time with family even though that was the start of about a 4 day intestinal bug for me...YUCK! Jared was able to take the kids to the annual apple picking on Sunday and had a wonderful time...however there was a strong push to move the party to our house next year which would be lots of fun so we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

It was definitely a different week at the babysitters this last week.  Mia wasn't feeling well one day and spiked a fever. We were hoping it was the start of her getting a few more teeth but she was acting ok just a little tired.  Then I thought Hunter got my intestinal bug...poor little guy! Every time we changed him he had loaded his diaper and his poor little butt was all red and cracked which led to a very unhappy little man when it was time for diaper changing.  It also led to lots of clothing changes since he was blowing out at least once a day!! Then Friday I received a text from Tonya stating that Mia and McKenna had gotten into the diaper rash cream and Mia had a mess in her hair...what an understatement!!!  When I picked Mia up from Tonya's I had to laugh at the amount of grease in her poor little hair and Tonya washed it 3 times! She suggested I try Dawn dish soap...which 3 days later is finally starting to work!!  To top it off on Friday Hunter was wearing one of Mia's shirts when I got there to pick them up.  He of course had blown out of another outfit and I had forgotten to leave a change of clothes! What can you do but laugh...or cry!! This is not where this day ends however...on the way home Hunter pooped once again...yep all over the carseat!!!  Now not only do I have to get everything ready for a bridal shower and bachelorette party but I also get to wash a carseat!!  Of course while I was cleaning the carseat Hunter also exploded on the jumperoo!!!  And Jared was out hunting with Zach. AGGH!!!  We also noticed Saturday morning that Hunter has his first tooth!!! So, maybe that's where all that poop came from!!!  Luckily we all made it to Saturday and had a wonderful time celebrating Erin and Zach's upcoming wedding!

Mia's greasy hair full of butt cream!!
What fun!!

Notice the little surprise
in Hunter's lap that he
conveniently left for Mommy
to clean up!!

I think this is when Mia and Hunter
discussed how much fun it would
be to make Mommy crazy!!

Hunter sitting pretty in Mia's purple shirt!!

So remind me when am I supposed to mop, vacuum, and generally clean my house!! I can't even change the kids rooms over for the next season of clothes!! Oh, well...time for bed and another week of fun!
